Some more past Trivia from our club....In 1944, our club purchased a 7 acre camp on the Blanco river to provide a camping spot for Boy Scouts and Girl outs....$400...Later a group of members spent many hours clearing the site, building shelters and providing toilet facilities.  The club as maintained the camp 
and paid the utilities yearly since...(Now we know the rest of the story!).
....Paid expenses to Explorer's entrants in canoe race......Furnished breakfast for Scout leaders.....Sponsored a national Kids day annually.  This usually consisted of a pet parade, sometimes has included free trips, free movies, freee refreshments, with expenditures up to $150.     Here are some activities in other fields....in recreation....gave $300 for helping to build and equip the City Recreation Building....gave $20 for trees for the park....Construjcted portable backstops to make possible use of neighborhood playgrounds for ball games....from the early days when the library was a corner of a grocery store, to the building of the present structure, the club and its members have given time and money to the support of the Library (and it is to this day)....Gave to flood relief in 1955....Furnished a room in Memorial hospital, approximately $500....supplied a microscope ($529) and a refrigerator ($200) to Memorial Hospital.  (More next week)
