Memorial Day on May 26th is the next day to set out flags for those who have renewed this service.

If you want to donate diapers, diaper wipes, etc. to the Hays County Child Protective Services organization, please bring them to the May 29th meeting.

At our May 21st Board meeting, the board members approved trying a once-a-month regular meeting at 6:00 pm in lieu of one lunch meeting. It will start in August on the third Monday of the month.

Kelli brought cupcakes to celebrate May birthdays and Kelli and her husband's anniversary.

Rick attended the TX/OK Kiwanis District Governor's visit in Georgetown. One of his takeaways was to consider promoting corporate members for our club. He also brought up having payment options on our website such as Venmo and PayPal.

Abbie Edge (Key Club Next Year Lt Governor) will be at our lunch on June 5th. Rick suggested we also have our scholarship recipients come that day to receive the symbolic big checks. Their scholarship funds are sent directly to whichever college or university they attend.

It is time to present new officer candidates for President and Secretary for next year's Executive Board plus we need two board members. Please consider volunteering. So far, no one has thrown their name in the hat. Rick said he would consider continuing but will have to have help whether it is a Vice President or President-Elect. We also need more committee or individual commitments such as for the website postings. Too much has been left undone that Rick has had to take care of to keep everything going. There are things that can be handled with scheduling that works for you. We cannot really have a club without a President and Secretary.

Kristi gave an update on the Good Citizen Camp that starts on May 26th. San Marcos High School failed to support getting the word out about the camp to its students. However, HCISD did promote it along with parents who either had their children in it last year or heard about it. There is community support now. They have campers signed up with more still coming in. Her goal is to have a couple of Kiwanians start running the camp in the next couple of years as well as Texas State students working through a mentoring program to serve as role models for the kids.

On Sunday May 25th at 3:00 pm, the horses and supplies are being dropped off at the camp. Lon has been doing his usual diligent work sometimes alone and sometimes with a small crew of volunteers to make sure the camp is ready at all times.
