OUR PROGRAM FOR THIS COMING THURSDAY, APRIL 7, 2015
Del Brown will be bringing the program to our club this coming Thursday, April 7th. Larry Terrell ( the one in the foreground of the picture) who is the founder of "Footprints Children's Grief Ministry", based out of Roundrock United Methodist Church, Roundrock, Texas.
What is Footprints? It is a community-wide Grief Ministry serving children between the ages of 6 and 18 and their families who are experiencing grief and loss.
Footprints provides a safe caring environment in which children can learn to identify and cope with their emotions. Most important children can learn that "You are not alone." They see that others are experiencing the same kind of grief and same emotions.
Footprints work with children who have experienced the death of a loved one. The activities with Footprints are designed to help children understand their emotions and began to deal with them. All activities and games are group-based emphasizing the theme of "You are not alone."
Getting the parents involved in the healing process is a huge key in the child's success. Mr Terrell is coming down from Roundrock to speak to our group. If anyone has friends who might be interested in this type of ministry, invite them to come and have lunch with us on April 7th.
`WHAT AN AMAZING PROGRAM LAST THURSDAY FROM A MARVELOUS LADY!
Randal Grizzle brought an amazing lady as our program last week. B.J. Ritchie. She is an artist and a wonderful person. This painting is just one of hundreds of other paintings she has done. She has been painting for many years, and her philosophy for painting is to paint things that people can relate to. She feels that unless a person can find themselves getting inside a painting, then she hasn't accomplished anything. She said that art is more than capturing an image. She wants to communicate her feelings in her art. She wants people to feel something relative to her paintings. It was truly a wonderful program. One of the great highlights of her art is to paint for children over at the library, Thanks Betty for joining us, and Randal for bringing her.
WELCOME TO OUR GUESTS LAST WEEK
Lon Shell brought two visitors to our club meeting last Thursday. They were Ken Moss and his son Tres Moss. Ken is very well known in San Marcos, and we want to welcome them, They both were given information about Kiwanis and a membership form. Ken has just recently lost his wife, Jane and Tres' mother. We extend to them our warmest welcome and our deepest condolences.
Tracy Herman also brought a guest, or rather a former Kiwanis member, Jim Stark. We welcomed him back and hope that he will consider coming back into the club.

A BIG BUCKS WINNER!
Another Big Bucks winner last Thursday. Chester Banks, who rarely misses a noon club meeting was tickled to death to have his name drawn. Let's face it, guys and gals, all you have to do is make sure you are wearing your Kiwanis pin, and
Chester not only wears his Kiwanis pin, but he also wears proudly his Eliminate Zeller pin. Congratulations Chester. (Oh Yes, he kept the money)
SEQUIN KIWANIS CLUB CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF ACTIVITY.
A couple weeks ago, Moe Johnson and Del & Marie Brown went over to the Sequin Kiwanis Club upon invitation by their president, Bob Hyatt, to be a part of their 60th Anniversary of being a club. There were about 40 persons there including members and their spouses. It was held at the Park Plaza Hotel on South River St. The Hotel furnished a variety of foods, all of which could be put on plates in a buffet style.
The meeting was opened in the traditional way with the pledge of Allegiance to the flag, a song and a prayer. Then after a short history of the club given by Pres. Bob, several old time members got up and told their memories of the club. All in all, it was very nostalgic, and finally was concluded with the cutting of the anniversary cake. We wish the Seguin club many more years of Kiwanis activities and a grateful thanks for inviting members from our club to be in attendance,

PARENTS GIVE A GREAT SEND-OFF!
Young Tony was with his parents and they were taking refreshments in the bar at Manchester station when they heard a train whistle. The three of them rushed out of the bar onto the platform only to discover that they had missed the train.
'The next train is in one hour,' intoned the stationmaster.' So the three went back into the bar. The parents had another drink, Tony had a coke. Again they heard a train whistle, so they rushed out and discovered the train pulling away.
'Next one is sixty minutes from now,' grunted the stationmaster. An hour later, Tony, with his mom and dad, raced out onto the platform, and his parents leaped onto the train as it was pulling away. The boy was left standing on the platform and began to laugh uproariously.
'Your parents just left you,' said the stationmaster. 'Why are you laughing?'
Tony smiled, 'They only came to see me off.'
.Rob is out of the hospital as of this writing,and is recovering at home. He is very weak. We know sometimes pneumonia takes a long time to heal, so we are glad he is out of the hospital, and pray God's richest blessing on him and give him the strength that he requires to be back with us once again.
KIWANIS OF THE MONTH
Last Thursday, President Moe as he has done each month since he took office last October, has picked an individual and presented a blue T-Shirt that has 'Kiwanis of the Month" printed on it. This month, Moe picked Doug Balkman. Doug is currently the Program Chairman of our club, and he has done a fantastic job of selecting members of the club to present a program each week. He has just put out a new list for April, May and June, If you have a program coming up, please let the bulletin editor know, so that he can research and get it in the Bulletin the week before the program is given. Doug not only puts out the program schedule, but he is always available for every special project that might come up in our club. Doug, you are truly an inspiration and deserving to be KOTM.
