Last Week's Program
Gary Strunk, camp coordinator for our club's 'Camp McBride Wilson Youth Camp' gave quite a run down on this past year's useage of our camp. This is Gary's 2d year to be in this position and it goes without saying that there is a lot of hard work that goes along with being coordinator. The camp is used very often by Boy Scouts, church groups, and any other group that might sign up and the camp is available.
We are very proud of our camp, but is takes more than one person to maintain it, coordinate users, and still get involved in other activities which our club is involved in. Gary has done a magnificent job in handling many groups, going out to the camp and letting the group in, turning on electricity and water, making sure that restrooms are clean, and then going back to the camp at the completion of the weekend campout, shutting things down and locking the camp until the next time. Our gratitude goes out to Gary for his hard work and other members of our club who have mowed, weed whacked, trimmed, cleaned, raked in order that our camp is ready for the next group. A great amount of congratulations goes out to Gary for the magnificent job he has done.
Those were the words of Joanna Gilland who drew her winning card out of the BigBucks, and guess what.....she kept it!

San Marcos Kiwanis Board Meeting.
Your editor apologizes for putting the wrong date for our Board Meeting as having met last Thursday. Not correct. The Board will meet this Thursday, July 26 in the CTMC Professional Building at 5:00pm.

July 22, 1934 - - Bank Robber John Dillinger was shot and killed by FBI agents as he left Chicago's Biograph Movie Theater after watching the film Manhattan Melodrama starring Clark Gable and Myrna Loy!
July 23, 1952 - - Egyptian army officers launched a revolu9tion changing Egypt from a monarchy to a republic.
July 24, 1945 - - At the conclusion of the Potsdam Conference in Germany, Winston Churchill, Harry Truman and China's representatives issued a demand for unconditional Japanese surrender. The Japanese unaware the demand was backed up by an Atomic Bomb, rejected the Potsdam Declaration on July 26!
July 25, 1909 - - The world's first international overseas airplane flight was achieved by Louis Bleriot in a small monoplane. After asking, "Where is England?" he took from France and landed in England near Dover, where he was greeting by British police!
July 26, 1945 - - The U.S. Cruiser Indianapolis arrive at Tinian Island in the Marianas with an unassembled atomic Bomb, met by scientists ready to complete the assembly.

"This term goes back to sailors who brought it to land. The stern of a boat is called the poop. During strong winds and storms, smashed against it repeatedly.
