Greeters should arrive NLT 11:30am in order to put on a Greeter Badge, and greet the early arrivals. If they are new to our club, introduce them to other members, make them feel very welcome.

Francis Mendez's name was called, but he was present. That's the first requirement to win....you must be present, then you must be wearing your pin, not necessarily your club badge. You should automatically have that on, but your Kiwanis pin is what gets you the $$$$$. Sorry Francis!
Our Program for this coming Thursday, July 28, 2016
Our program for this coming Thursday is being brought by John Polk. He is Thomas Fortney, curator at Dick's Classic Garage. What he does is to perform the research and design of the museum displays. In addition to the general curatorial duties, he manages the educational program for the museum. He is also the graphic designer and merchandise manager. Some of Thomas's causes are children, Education and Science and Technology. He is responsible for free guided tours to all school groups. In addition they are working on a STARR math program that will reinforce the information required in the STARR testing using the vehicles in the museum. I would not want to miss this program.
WHAT A JOYFUL AND INSPIRATIONAL TALK LAST THURSDAY.
Our speaker last week gave us quite a lot of reasons why we are in Kiwanis today. Talk about having your heart and soul in something that you really believe in. Sylvester Neal, former Kiwanis International President, just frankly summed up the core reasons we should be in Kiwanis, and that has to do with kids. He said that Kiwanis is probably the best well kept secret in our communities and we should do everything we can do to promote ourselves.
Our Social Media offers wonderful opportunities to spread the news about Kiwanis. Kiwanis needs kids and Kids need Kiwanis. What a true statement. Talk about a true ambassador for our organization, and we shouldn't keep it to ourselves. Sylvester was truly motivational in his desire of serving Kiwanis. He went all the way up the ranks, from Secretary of his club, to president, to Lt Governor, to Governor of his District, to International Trustee to finally becoming International President in 2010, serving till 2011. If you were not there last week, you missed a person who was on fire for Kiwanis. Thanks Sylvester and thank you Cynthia Bentley for letting our club know that he was around, and introducing him.

Last Thursday, we had three guests with us. Bill Stitch was brought by Gary Nelson; Cynthia Bentley came for a second time (in fact she introduced the main speaker); and Ted Breihan brought his lovely wife, Francis. Guests are always welcome.

"Your Kiwanis club may be visited by groups of Kiwanians from another club. If there are four or more of them the meeting is called an Inter-club Meeting and the visiting group itself is called an Interclub Meeting.....The purpose of Inter-clubs is to encourage communication among nearby, and sometimes not so nearby, Kiwanis clubs. Through Inter-clubs, Kiwanians get acquainted with and form networks with, other clubs and their members. Information about club service projects may be exchanged and joint service efforts sometimes result from Kiwanians meeting one another through Inter-club Visits......TRADITIONS OF KIWANIS....Pre-planning also prevents unhappy surprises such as arriving to find that a club has recently changed its meeting place or time, or that the club has planned a special meeting to deal with internal club issues (rare), or that the club is sponsoring a special community event at its meeting for which advance meal reservations were necessary. In general, unless your're sure that your visit won't be an unhappy surprise, a quick phone call to the club president or secretary is a good idea."
Camp Clean Up News.
Just to keep our club up to date with regards to keeping our camp clean, several members went out this past week and worked. Randy and Pam Cook went out on Wednesday, July 20th and cleaned the restrooms and the Pavilion Storage Room.
Then, on last Saturday, July 23, the following members worked from 8:00am-9:30am, because of the heat. Lon Shell, Gary Nelson, Gary's friend and visitor last week to our club, Bill Stitch and Randy.
Lon drove the tractor and pulled the bush hog. Gary brought his new Swisher Push Weed-Eater. Bill cut up a lot of tree limbs with his tree and standard chain saws. Randy & Bill carried them to a pile near the camp fire site. A lot of work was accomplished.
Every club member should take a trip out to the camp and see what we have available to Scout troops, church groups, and other groups.
Thanks to all of those who worked this last week. It was much appreciated.
