PROGRAM:
Victoria and Marissa from the Greater San Marcos Youth Council came to talk about what the organization does for youth who are living in difficult family situations. They both had challenging home situations growing up and found this gave them the determination and inspiration to help others. They operate a residential Children's Shelter with the mission of sheltering children and strengthening families. They provide family and youth counseling along with early intervention, tutoring and housing help. The services are free. Marissa, the Program Director, is known as the house mom. The shelter is a temporary housing facility before foster care and is open 24/7. There were lots of questions from club members.
