Last Week's Program had to be a wing dinger of a program!
Even though I was not present at last week's program, because I, being what my calling has been most of my life, attended a group of former pastors and their wives in New Braunfels. Their group was called 'OWOP' (Old Worn Out Preachers). These are pastors and their spouses, who have been retired for some time, but still like to get together just to 'palaver' with each other.
Because I was not at our weekly club meeting, I regret not being able to comment specifically on the subject material from Ricci Woodard and Cat Osterman, but I have talked with several members who were there and they were very impressed with what these two professional athletes had to share with our club. Both Ricci and Cat have been in Women's softball for many years, both as players and both as coaches. I heard there was plenty of participation from both the speakers, and Moe Johnson, who arranged the program, as well as much positive comments from our club members. I'm sorry to have missed it, but it was a tremendous program and I want to thank Moe for bringing Ricci and Cat to share their personal experiences as well as to share with our club just what the future holds for the Bobcat Club.

Frederick Case will be bringing the program this coming Thursday. He will be bringing Phil Hutchinson, President of Habitat for Humanity here in San Marcos.
San Marcos Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to putting the dream of homeowners within reach of working families. They run on the power of the Greater San Marcos community - - your time, your money, your prayers. Their vision is to have a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Their mission statement to seek to put God's love into action. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Phil is well known throughout San Marcos, serving as Real Estate Manager for McCoy Corporation. Planning Commissioner, City of San Marcos from 2002-2005; McCoy Store Manager, 1985-1991 ; Printing Press Operator 1980-1985; Citizen's Utility Advisory Board, started 2012. Phil is well versed in the area of Texas property tax management, both real and personal.
Board of Director's Meeting :
There will be a Board of Directors meeting on this Thursday at 5:30pm at Brookdale San Marcos North. We can't deal with the business of our club if we don't have a quorum.

Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve consists of 227 acres of native Texas Hill Country habitat west of Austin in Westlake Hills. The preserve was founded in 1974.
The entrance to the preserve is a mile north of Bee Caves Road along the east side of Loop 360. The hiking trails are open everyday sunrise to sunset. The Wild Basin Creative Research Visitor Center is open M-F, 9am-4pm.
In 1974, Janet Poague, a Westlake Hills resident and prominent environmentalist, was instrumental in negotiating a developments rights agreement between the City of Austin, Travis County, and Westview Development creating the preserve.
Mrs. Poague along with Westview executive Beth Robertson, Mayor Carol McClellan and County Commissioner Ann Richards redrew the master plan of Westview's 1300 acre Davenport Ranch residential development in order to set aside over 100 acres of the developer's land to protect the sensitive Hill Country environment including habitat for the endangered Black-Capped Vireo and Golden Cheeked Warbler.
In the deal, Westview donated the land to Wild Basin and, in return, the City gave the developer the right to relocate 100 residential units originally planned on the preserve land to its adjacent property. This transaction was one of the first transfers of development rights in the Austin area and created one of the more important environmental laboratories on the Edwards Plateau.
July 21, 1898 - - Guam was ceded to the United States by Spain.
July 22, 1934 - - Bank Robber John Dillinger was shot and killed by FBI agents. He had just left Chicago's Biograph Movie Theater after watching the film Manhattan Melodrama starring Clark Cable and Myrna Loy. Dillinger was the first criminal labeled by the FBI as "Public Enemy No.1." After spending nine years (1924 - 1933) in prison, Dillinger went on a deadly crime spree, traveling through the states of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. He was reportedly betrayed by the "Lady in Red,"
July 23, 1952 - - Egyptian army officers launched a revolution changing Egypt from a monarchy to a republic.
July 24, 1943 - - During World War II in Europe, the Royal Air Force conducted Operation Gomorrah, raiding Hamburg, while tossing bales of aluminum foil strips overboard causing German radar screens to see a blizzard of false echoes. As a result, only twelve of 791 Allied bombers involved were shot down.
July 25, 1943 - - Mussolini was deposed just two weeks after the Allied attack on Sicily. The Fascist Grand Council met for the first time since December of 1939 then took a confidence resulting in Mussolini being ousted from office and placed under arrest. Italy's King Victor then ordered Marshal Pietro Badoglio to form a new government.
July 26, 1944 - - The U.S. Army began desegregating its training camp facilities. Black platoons were then to white companies in a first step toward battlefield integration. However, no official order integrating the armed forces didn't come until July 26, 1948, signed by President Harry Truman.
July 27, 1953 - - The Korean War ended with the signing of an armistice by U.S. and North Korea delegates at Panmunjom, Korea. The war had lasted just over three years.
