We had three guests at our last club meeting. Penny Slavik, daughter of Del Brown came along with our program presenter, Holly Hood and ran the power point. Also Sam Brannon brought two new guests, Caleb Williams and Dan Lyons. Guests are always welcome. Always feel free to invite guests to our meeting and invite them to come back.
Our program for this coming Thursday, APRIL 28TH.
Frederick Case is bringing our program this coming Thursday, and I don't think that you will want to miss it. He will be speaking on Membership in our Club. There is going to be a membership committee set up, and one way to be put on a committee is to stay home next week. Frederick is in Pennsylvania attending a function that is placing emphasis on The Formula, as well as how to not only interest new membership in Kiwanis, but also to keep their enthusiasm going once they join. Keeping up that enthusiasm once a member joins is to keep them involved in what Kiwanis is all about. We can't just receive a new member in our club, and then forget about them. Frederick is going to talk to us about how to keep that enthusiasm high. It is going to take all of us to share that enthusiasm that brought us into membership. If you have a guest you've been wanting to invite, next Thursday is the day. Our attendance has been a little low the last three weeks. We have been running in the twenties, but we've been missing some members that used to attend regularly. Let's build our attendance back up. Come this coming Thursday.
Doug Balkman brought a very informative program last Thursday. Holly Hood, chairman of the Volunteer Management Committee with the Hays County Food Bank. Holly has just taken this position and she was extremely knowledgeable about all that was going on at the Food Bank. She had a power point presentation, assisted by Penny Slavik, a regular volunteer at the Bank. The statistics that Holly presented were astounding, makes you rather uneasy to realize just how many people in Hays County are going hungry. Our club gives a donation to the Food Bank twice a year. The group in the picture to the left was just part of the club members who stood with Holly as our club gave the Food a check for $200.00. One of the dire needs that Food Bank needs right now are drivers. If you would like to take part in helping out at the Food Bank, contact them, and I am sure they will put you to work. Thanks Doug, Holly and Penny for filling us in once again just how important is our Food Bank.
OH NO, MISSED AGAIN!
This is three weeks in a row that someone's name was drawn that that person was not present. Garry White's name was drawn, and since he is a teacher at Texas State during the same time our club meets, unfortunately he was not able to be there. Sorry Garry!
