 I know that our was received, and I wish that I had been there to hear Dr. Wong. I was laid up with a common cold, but with my head stopped up, my nose running, I didn't think I would be very much appreciated, so I stayed home. I hear that Dr. Wong's presentation would have been something that I also am interested in and that what is going on on the Internet, and computers in general. While I was sick, my old computer, with a Vista OS, finally said "no more" and gave up the ghost. Since Vista is not compatible with Windows, I couldn't just get an update to Windows 10, so as soon as I was able to get back behind the wheel, I bit the bullet and bought a new Lento with Windows 10 installed. It is so cool in some ways, and very strange in others, but I have the clubrunner software firmly installed and trying to get the bulletin out by today or tomorrow.
But, Garry White made a great choice in bringing Dr. Wong, and even though there was a small attendance, her program was very enlightening and we want to thank her bringing the latest things that are happening in the computer world.

After the Thanksgiving holidays, on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, Gary Strunk will be bringing Beatrice Wigonton, from the 'Rays of Hope Volunteer Organization'. Be sure and put it on your calendar. We will have more on her program in next week's bulletin.

Greeters should arrive by 11:30am to greet people that come early. If you see someone sitting by themselves, ask if you can join them. Remember we are a friendly club and we want everyone glad that they came.

WHAT MAKES YOUR THANKSGIVING SPECIAL?
Since we are not going to have a meeting this coming Thursday, November 26, which is Thanksgiving, let's think back in our minds as to what has made your Thanksgiving special over the years. Here's one that I found, and it was similar to a thing we did when I was stationed in Okinawa in the 70's. This is simply called "THE TABLECLOTH"...."Our family has a tablecloth that we use every Thanksgiving. It was a plain white cloth, but every year whoever eats Thanksgiving dinner signs their name and (if they want to), draws a picture using fabric paint. We have a very colorful cloth now. It's fun to see what everyone drew in the past years. I've done my son's handprints and last year dreew an oven with a bun in it (I was pregnant).....Barbara

 THINK ON THIS A BIT.....WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE A DIFFERENT NAME FOR OUR 'WEEKLY BULLETIN'?
Are we tired of the name for our weekly bulletin. Does the title really reflect our club? Would you like to see another title for it. Well, why not come up with another name, if'n you want to! We are almost at the end of the year, lets come up with some ideas, and put them in a hat and see what comes out. If everyone agrees on a name or if the majority wins, then beginning the first issue of January 2016, we will start with the new title. What do you think. This is not only for our members to decide, but we are sending the bulletin, right now, to 80 emails. You all have a say so, so start shooting me your suggestions, and I'll keep track of them, and slip some of the suggestions in the December issues. Ok? Ok!

 ATTENTION KIWANIS MEMBERS AND FRIENDS.
 November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, we start riongingho focus on ringing the bell and filling the Red Bucket for Salvation Army. We are going to need as many ringers as we can. Gary Strunk, Doug Balikman, Randy & Pam Cook are heading this up and they are going to need all our help help. Everytime there is a vacancy, they have to fill in, so PLEASE!!! Sign up for one or more dates. Our club is responsible for Hobby Lobby. While you are inside, you do not ring the bell, but if you choose to go outside, ring all you want to. NOTE: It is so easy to sign up. Just get on the computer, and type in www.fumc.org, then in the upper right hand side of the home page, you will see the phrase "HELP RING SALVATION ARMY BELL", click on that and follow instruction. Remember all the good does through Salvation Army. Don't leave yourself out...Help us! We need you very much. |

  "An old geezer became very bored in retirement and decided to open a medical clinic.He put a sign up outside that said 'DR. GEEZER'S CLINIC. GET YOUR TREATMENT FOR $500. IF NOT CURED, GET BACK $1000.'
Dr. Young was positive that old geezer didn't know medicine, and thought he had a great opportunity to get $1,000. So he went to Dr. Geezer's clinic.
Dr. Young: Dr. Geezer. I have lost all taste in my mouth. Can you please help me?
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."
Dr., Young: "Aagh!! That is Gasoline!"
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your taste back. That will be $500"
Dr Young is annoyed, and goes back in a couple of days figuring to recover his money.
Dr. Young: "I have lost my memory. I can't remember anything."
Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."
Dr. Young: "Oh, no you don't, that's Gasoline."
Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations, you've got your memory back. That'll be $500.00.
Dr Young after having lost $1,000, leaves angrily and comes back in a couple of days.
Dr. Young: "My eyesight has become weak - - I can hardly see anything."
Dr. Geezer: "Well I don't have any medicine for that, so here's your $1000 back" giving him a $10 bill.
Dr. Young: "But this is only $10!"Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You got your vision back! That'll be $500."

THANKSGIVING INTERCLUB TO MARBLE We only had four from our club attend Marble Fall's Thanksgiving Interclub, on Tuesday, Nov. 24th, (Randy Cook, Glen Rydl, Del Brown and Ted Breihan. ) If you have never been on an interclub trip, it is well worth it. You get to see what the other clubs are doing. Watch for the next one, it'll be coming along.

HISTORICAL FACTS DURING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 20th TO NOVEMBER 26TH.
November 20, 1943........The Battle of Tarawa began in the Pacific War as American troops attacked the Japanese on the heavily fortified Gilbert Islands. It took eight days for the 5th Amphibious Corps, 2d Marine Division and the 27th Infantry Division to take Tarawa and the Makin Islands. Over 1,000 Americans were killed with 2,311 wounded. The Japanese lost 4,700 men.
November 21, 1783.......The first free balloon flight took place in Paris as Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Marquis Francois Laurent d'Arlandes ascended in a Montgolfier hot air balloon. Their flight lasted about 25 minutes and carried them nearly six miles at a height of about 300 feet over Paris. Benjamin Franklin was one of the spectators.
November 22, 1718.......Blackbeard the pirate (Edward Teach) was killed off the coast of North Carolina after a long and prosperous career. :t. Governor Alexander Spotswood of Virginia had sent two sleeps to put an end to him. The sailors encountered Blackbeard and Lt. Robert Maynard killed him in the fight that followed.
November 23, 1890........Ten year old Princess Wilhelmina became Queen of the Netherlands upon the death of her father William III. Her mother Queen Emma acted as Regent until 1898.
November 24, 1969.....The US Army announced that Lt. William I. Calley had been charged with premeditated murder in the the massacre of civilians in the Vietnamese village of My Lai in March of 1968. Calley was ordered to stand trial by court martial and was later convicted and sentenced to life in prison. However, his sentence was later commuted to three years of house arrest by President Richard Nixon.
November 25, 1783.........At the end of the Revolutionary War the last British troops left New York City.
November 26, 1998..........In Dublin, Tony Blair became the first British Prime Minister to appear before the Irish Parliament, which had been created 80 years earlier in defiance of the British government.
