OUR PROGRAM FOR THIS COMING THURSDAY, MARCH 24, 2015
Our program this coming Thursday will be presented by David & Kathy Chandler, and the subject will be facts on the Great Westward Movement in America with specific emphasis on the Overland Trail.
Between the gold rush and the Civil War, Americans in growing numbers filled the Mississippi River Valley, Texas, the southwest territories, and the new states of Kansas and Nebraska. During the war, gold & silver discoveries drew prospectors and later settlers into Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho and New Mexico. This will be a very interesting personal presentation with a power point selection of personal slides. Let's have a great turnout.

Showing respect for their fallen brother, the other five continue playing standing up. Michael Lennon looks around and asks, 'Oh, me boys, someone got to tell Sean's wife. Who will it be?
They draw straws. Cavan Colquoun picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet and gentle and not to make a bad situation any worse. 'Discreet? I'm the most discreet Irishman you'll ever meet. Discretion is my middle name. Leave it to me', announces Cavan.
He goes over to O'Toole's house and knocks on the door.
Brenda O'Toole answers and asks what he wants. Cavan declares: 'Your husband just lost 700 pounds and is coming home.'
'Tell him to drop dead!' snarls Brenda. 'I'll go tell him,' says Cavan."
BIG BUCKS HAD A WINNER!
McBride Wilson was the lucky winner in Big Bucks last Thursday. He was well outfitted, so he could either
keep it or give it away. After explaining that the whole purpose of Big Bucks was to generate a
happy atmosphere and encourage good attendance and possibly new members, he decided, in the
great and happy decision......to keep it! All right McBride!
HERE'S HOW WE DID AT THIS YEAR'S PANCAKE/SILENT AUCTION.....
As of last Thursday at Board meeting, Randy gave us the latest figures on this year's Pancake & Silent Auction.....We served 342 persons for a net amount of $7,298. That includes ticket sales and auction, with everything paid for....except....there are still some who have not turned in their ticket money. There's about $1,000 still out. If you sold tickets and have not turned in the money, please do this coming week.
`ROB MARTIN BROUGHT 'MEMBERSHIP SATISFACTION SURVEY' TO OUR CLUB LAST THURSDAY.
Once a year, every club should go through a Membership Satisfaction Survey, agreeing or disagreeing with about 25 questions as to how our club seems to feel they are doing as a club. Rob led our club last Thursday in this survey (results are not known at this printing). The questions have a broad range of subjects as to how each member feels their club is accomplishing the overall goals of a Kiwanis Club. Rob did a great job in presenting this survey.
It goes without saying that our club is only as strong as each member is in how they look at our club, participating in club activities, seeking to invite new people to our club and how we respond to them through our welcoming etc. I guess the bottom line to this survey is how do we as individual members think our club is doing, or could we always have room for improvement. WHAT CAN I SAY?.....I BLAME IT ALL ON MY FINGERS!
I am profusely sorry that I gave the wrong person's name who had purchased a new pot to be used
for the Pancake Days. Andrew Gary did the purchasing, not McBride Wilson. There is a difference between the two, but I'm not at liberty to say, except "Sorry!"

Just a friendly reminder that everyone who is a member of our Kiwanis Club must go online and individually pay their own fee - $5.85. It is not the responsibility of our club to pay for the check. We do not get a card like in the past, but we get a recognition stating that we have paid the fee.
