The Installation Banquet went off very well Thursday night at The Price Center. A great meal was served by Stegler Chiffondade Caterers.
Great assistance was given by Clay DeStefano from the Price Center. Steve & Kelli Whigham presented a magnificent slide show of last year's activities. We had 47 persons present. The following individuals were installed for the 2015-2016 Board.
Moe Johnson.....President 2015-2016; Tracy Herman.....President Elect 2016-2017; Glen Rydl....Secretary; Randy Cook....Treasurer; Past President....Past President; Ted Breihan....Bd Mbr 2d year; Lon Shell Bd Mbr - 2d Yr.; Gary Nelson......Bd Mbr, 1st Yr; Doug Balkman.....Bd Mbr,1st Yr; Randall Grizzle....Bd Mbr, 1st Yr. The following had perfect attendance: Doug Balkman - 1 year....Gary Strunk....1 year - Chester Banks - 1 year - Del Brown - 3 years. Rob Martin - 4 years - Frederick Case - 7 years, Pam Cook, 8 years, Gary Nelson, 17 years, John Polk - 18 years, Moe Johnson, 27 years. Lon Shell, 31 years. Randy Cook, 34 years, McBride Wilson, 37 years, Ted Breihan, 40 years, Glen Rydl, 44 years. Kiwanis Legion of Honor recipients: Steve Furney - 30 years; Lon Shell, 35 years, and Moe Johnson, 40 years. A Certificate and plaque were given to Gary Strunk for his work at Camp McBride Wilson during the Memorial Day Flood.
And the special KIWANIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD, was awarded to Gary Nelson, for his special expertise in all of our Kiwanis activities this year.

 Even though we didn't have a club meeting last Thursday morning, we did have a good attendance at the Installation Banquet. In listing those who put our flags on Patriot's Day, September 11th, Francis Mendez's name was inadvertently ommitted. Sorry Francis! He worked both putting them up in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon.

PAM COOK WILL BE BRINGING THE PROGRAM THIS COMING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH. SHE WILL BE PRESENTING DR. THEODORE HINDSON, FROM THE POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT AT TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY.
Dr. Hindson received his B.A from LaSalle College in Political Science and his M.A. and PhD in Government and International Relations from the University or Notre Dame. He has been teaching at TSU since 1974. His topic will be the Constitution and the Presidency. He has received several distinguished awards such as International Programs Professor of the Year in 1995, Honors Professor of the Year in 1990 and 1994 as well as an award for excellence from the Student Foundation in 2005 and 2006. Dr. Hindson has been an integral part of the Political Science department serving as Chair from 1980 - 1985 and Undergraduate Advisor from 1986-2003. Some of the courses that he has taught while at TSU are 'Topics in Modern Democratic Systems', 'Problems in American Politics', 'Government and Politics in Europe', 'Principles of American Government' and many others. Do plan come hear this interesting person talk about issues that we are all concerned about.

 HEAR YE! HEAR YE!....SPECIAL BOARD MEETING THIS THURSDAY!
President Moe Johnson has called for a special Board Meeting this coming Thursday, September 24 at 5:15 pm. It will be held at CTMC. It will be strictly a meeting to discuss the upcoming budget for the coming year. All members of the new Board of Directors are requested to be present. They are: Moe Johnson, Tracy Herman, Glen Rydl, Randy Cook, Del Brown, Ted Breihan, Lon shell, Gary Nelson, Doug Balkman, and Randall Grizzle.

September 18, 1947.......The U.S. Air Force was established as a separate military service.
September 19, 1985........Earthquakes in Mexico City killed an estimated 5,000 to 20,000 persons and left more than 100,000 homeless, causing $4 billion in damage. The quakes registered 8.1 and 7.5 on the Richter scale.
September 20, 1973.........The much hyped "Battle of the Sexes" took place in the Houston Astroadome as tennis player and women's rights activist Billie Jean King, defeated self-styled male chauvinist Bobby Riggs in three straight sets. Riggs, a retired tennis champion, had been critical of the quality of women's tennis.
September 21, 1949..........The People's Republic of China was proclaimed by it's Communist leaders.
