BULLETIN FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30TH, 2015
Actually, we had two excellent programs last week. Gary Strunk brought Beatrice Wiginton and Ms. Perez, both volunteers from "Rays of Hope", and they told an amazing story of how our city and cities around us and even volunteers from other states gathered together to help with our two major flood projects. Both of these ladies work out of the Warehouse which takes used furniture and hands them out to destitute families. Their sincerity and passion were primary for the children of these families, many who have lost everything. That goes right along with one of our Kiwanis motto, "One Child at a Time". Rev. Todd Salmi was also present for their presentation. Todd was the key figure in organizing our city into helping during the Memorial Day Flood and the Halloween flood.
The second program was a poster presentation by Patricia Derrickson and Jeanne McGaffrey, both From Bonham Pre-K school, bringing our club up to date with plans that they have for improving their playground area. This has to be a fantastic project, and we hope that we can get involved in it, as well as perhaps other clubs in our Division. Thanks to both of these programs.

Greeters should arrive by 11:30am to greet people that come early. If you see someone sitting by themselves, ask if you can join them. Remember we are a friendly club and we want everyone glad that they came.

Thanks to all of you who came out to DeZavala School this past Thursday afternoon, Dec. 3 to take part in the K-Kids Induction Ceremony. It was a huge success. This picture shows all of the kids with their certificates of membership. They also got special goodies from our members as well as special T-Shirts ordered by their school sponsor, Kayla Shook. Those from our club were Randy Cook, Pam Cook, Del Brown, Veronique Hahn,Moe Johnson, Doug Balkman, Garry White, Kelli Whigham and Chester Banks.
We need at least ten Kiwanis members to show up at DeZavala this coming Friday afternoon, December 11th at 1:45pm. It is their Terrific Kid's Fall festival, and we will be giving out donated items to these very special kids. Just look on their faces as you place a pencil, or a money purse, or a certificate or a sticker in their bag and congratulate them on being a Terrific Kid. Let's have a good showing like we always do.
DON'T FORGET THAT ON DECEMBER 10TH, WE WILL BE HOSTING OUR CHRISTMAS INTERCLUB CELEBRATION.
Mark your calendars....December 10th: Place: San Marcos BBQ on Hunter, across from The Mariposa. Invitations have been sent out to all of the clubs in our Division, and we want to have a great turnout. We'll be having 2 types of meat, and three sides (?). Dessert will be extra. The amount is $8.50 each. Pretty reasonable, if you ask me!. Let's try and have 100% come out from our club. President Moe is counting on all of us to be there. I believe the time is 12:00 noon. Spouses are included. There will be a variety of programs, so don't miss it. We have several clubs who will be attending, and a big surprise is being planned.
A couple weekas ago, Glen Rydl and I went over to Wimberley to see John Polk. We took breakfast tacos, which we all enjoyed, and John was his old positive self. But our visit was broken up by his physical therapist who came to get him for his daily workout. Keep it up John, this isn't going to get the best of you. Your Kiwanis family is behind you 100%.
KIWANIAN OF THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
Sorry about the condition of this picture, the window behind caused the picture to be dark. President Moe Johnson is handing out another "Kiwanian of the Month T-shirt, and this time is goes to Gary Nelson, who put in a great effort in obtaining our bikes from Academy that was given away to two children at our Veteran's Day 'parade', which was not a parade, but an inside celebration in San Marcos Activity Center. Whatever Gary becomes involved in, he gives it his best effort. Congratulations Gary!
