"The game show contestant was only 200 points behind the leader and about to answer the final question - worth 500 points!'To be today's champion, ' the show's smiling host intoned, 'name two of Santa's reindeer'. The contestant, a man in his early thirties, gave a sigh of relief, gratified that he had drawn such an easy question. 'Rudolph' he said, 'and,....Olive!'
The studio audience started to applaud (like the little sign above their heads said to do), but the chapping quickly faded into mumbling, and the confused host replied, 'Yes, we'll accept Rudolph, but could you please explain.....Olive?'
'You know,' the man circled his hand forward impatiently and began to sing, 'Rudoph the
Red nosed Reindeer - had a very shiny nose. And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glowed *Olive* the other reindeer.....'"
There were 16 club members present last Thursday. They were: Doug Balkman, Chester Banks, Del Brown, Randy Cook, Rob Martin, Lon Shell, Kelli Whigman, Sam Brannon, Ted Breihan, Pam Cook, Tracy Herman, Moe Johnson, Francis Mendez, Rydl, Gary Strunk and McBride Wilson.
Just a reminder, There will be no meeting, no program or no Rountable on New year's Day. Enjoy! and Happy New Year!

Wow!!! Guess whose name was drawn out for Big Bucks last Thursday? None other than Lon Shell. He got a whopping $2.00.
He said in all his years in the club, this was the first time he's won. (I don't think so!) Congratulations Lon.
What a wonderful program we had last Thursday. Beside our program, brought by Pam Cook, we also had
four members from the Lockhart club. Those popping in for an interclub meeting were Fred Bell, TerryBlack, Hoppy Hayden and Lockhart's president, Ron Peterson.Welcome to those members. Interclubbing is not only a good way to make up attendance, but it shares with other clubs what they are doing. We also had another visitor to our club: Michael Pena. Welcome! Those representing the K-Kids from DeZavala School were Kayla Shook, faculty advisor for the K-Kids; Miralba Merchant, assistant advisor, and Tim Maresch, principal of DeZavala. The kids that came from the school were: Jose Martinez, Justice McCand Sherlyn Sosa. Each child gave a short presentation as to what K-Kids was doing for them.
The next program will be on Thursday, January 8, 2015 (a brand new year!). Glen Rydl will be bringing Richard Parrish, from the A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Knowing Glen's interest in agriculture, plants, flowers, and other natural resources, this should be a great program. Let's have a good turnout for the first program of the new year.
This is an update letter from Francine Eikner, TX/OKDistrictCoordinator, The Eliminate Project....
"Looking back on the past few years,I am grateful for the opportunity of working with the amazing Kiwanians of the Texas-Oklahoma District. Your generosity and commitment to serving your communities and the Children of the World is truly inspiring.
The entire Kiwanis family has worked together raising over $2 million to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. We will soon enter 2015, the final year of The Eliminate Project, and before you know it, the time will have flown by and we will have left a legacy of improving the health of children worldwide.
Using every minute of every day until the end of the project is the challenge we face now. Remembering that every $1.80 donated will provide tetanus vaccine to a young woman protecting her and her future babies from MNT is the inspiration we need to continue our efforts.
There are lots of opportunities to encourage individuals and clubs to make the most of the time we have left. Centennial Awards and Zeller Fellowships are available for individuals. One-year matching funds for new Model Club commitments inspired our five newest Model Clubs to make the pledge. Every club that is not yet a Model Club can take advantage of the opportunity.
Thank you for all of the things you do in your hometowns, for your schools, and for those in need in your communities and throughout the world. Have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Unfortunately we did not have a quorum at our last board meeting, so the issues that were on the agenda were not able to be voted on. We might have to have a special board meeting after our club meeting, but that won't be until January. Those members on the Board are President, Del Brown, President-Elect, Moe Johnson, Beverly Crumley, Past President, John Polk, Secretary, Randy Cook, Treasurer, Directors: Charles Johnson, Tracy Herman, Sam Brannon, Lon Shell, and Ted Breihan, If you have a proposal to bring to the Board, have it written out and give to one of the board members prior to the meeting.
