People are forever seeking inspiration from role models - - on the stage, on the screen, on the field. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. has remained relevant for more than 60 years. His fight for peace, unity and equality still echoes on his birthday, January 16
Those who are putting up flags meet at Ted's place at 7am. Retrieve the flags somewhere after 4:30pm.

Last Thursday, Charles handed every Kiwanis member present at the meeting 20 tickets. We need to sell them, give them away and pay for them ourselves, but let's get busy. Also, auction items are needed. Go to businesses, friends, and solicit auction items. Let's not wait until the last minute. There is a lot of coordinating that has to be done.

Frederick Case will be bringing Moe Johnson as his program this coming Thursday. Not quite sure what the program will be about, but these two 'pros' are bound to come up with something surprising and unique. Let's have a great turnout for these two fellow members, I'm sure it will be entertaining and provocative.
Help Needed Seriously!
There once was a time when building handicap ramps was a project of our club, and when one was needed, we always had more than enough members to lend a helping hand.
Well Ramp building is not an official project of our club at this time, but there is still a great need for ramps to be built. We usually have help in building the modules, but now there is a need for other members of our club to voluntarily come forward and put the ramps together.
Right now, Gary Strunk , Gary Nelson and Bill Streick (?) are the three sole builders of ramp that are being requested for. It's too big a job for three people. I know there have been more workers in the past, when it was a club project, but right now, these three individuals need help.
I am asking not only our younger members, but also others who are getting this bulletin - can you help out when the call comes? Three people cannot do it, and three shouldn't have to do it by themselves, and these ramps are desperately needed. Can You help? Usually on Saturdays. Give Gary Strunk a call at 512-754-9585, or Gary Nelson at 512-353-0314, and indicate your willingness to help the handicap in building ramps. It would be a real blessing.

Remember last week, we learned how a dog's diary enjoyed everything he or she did. This week's diary is from a cat on Day 983 of her captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplishes tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of allergies. 'I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormenters by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - - but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.............For now!.......

The Parthenon in Nashville Tennessee
The Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee is a full scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, It was built in 1897 as part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition,
Today the Parthenon, which functions as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, a large public park just west of downtown Nashville. Athena Parthenos statue is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The statue of Athena Parthenos within is a reconstruction of the long-lost original to careful scholarly standards. She stands 42 feet high, gilt with more than 8 pounds of gold leaf; an equally colossal serpent rears its head between her and her shield.
Nashville's moniker, the"Athens of the South" influenced the choice of the building as the centerpiece of the 1897 Centennial Exposition. A number of buildings at the Exposition were based on ancient originals, however the Parthenon was the only one that was an exact reproduction.
