San Marcos Kiwanis Club Newsletter, Oct. 2, 2025
Rona Walton with the San Marcos Baptist Academy was a guest of Jesse's. She is the Director of Development at San Marcos Academy.

Marilyn Bostick is having a birthday on Oct. 26th and James and Kathy Collier are having an anniversary on Oct. 15th. Birthday celebration will be on Oct. 16th.

We were pleased to induct Kaycee into the club. She is in her last year in getting an Associate's Degree in Kinesiology at ACC. After she gets her degree she hopes to either coach or be a physical therapist. She is currently caretaker for Glen. She plans to set up our meeting room, serve on the Veteran's Day committee, Pancake Day committee and volunteer for any events that the club has during the year. We are excited she has joined us.

REPORTS:
Club dues are due. We encourage payment of $250 for a full year but it can be divided into two separate payments of $125. Check your email for a form sent by Willie which has QR codes if you choose to pay that way. Otherwise you may pay by cash, check, or by Square.

The First United Methodist Church is having their annual Pumpkin Patch from Oct. 13-31. Volunteers are needed for two hour shifts. To sign up you can go to FUMCSM.org. First two hour shift is 12:00 - 2:00 with the last at 6:00 - 8:00 M-F and Sunday. Saturday is 10:00 - 8:00.

The San Marcos Lion's Club has invited us to join them at a seminar that they are putting on for their Global Initiative for Mental Health at the VFW Hall, 1701 Hunter Rd. Hours are 12:00 - 1:00.

Even though it is happening on the same day as the Pumpkin Dash on Oct. 25th, Art Scared will be having their painting contest on the Square. The club made a donation that went to supplies so get by there to see the finished window paintings.

Kristin is selling raffle tickets to support the San Marcos Education Foundation. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. These are being sold as part of a Skeet Shoot 2025 on Oct. 31st.

PROGRAM: Natasha Allen who lives in New Braunfels just opened a vet clinic in San Marcos. According to her the clinic is not a traditional or emergency clinic but is designed to help pets with minor needs such as ear infections, medications, and yearly vaccines. It is a low cost clinic and she offers payment plans. She also offers vaccine clinics which are even cheaper than the office itself. Some of the other things she does are nail trims, neutering and spaying. Kristin asked a question about porpupine quills. Natasha will take care of that! She has an online pharmacy for a variety of medications and heart worm prevention. She stressed that she does not do exotics or snakes but can work with large animals. You can find more information about her clinic on Facebook, Instagram and Hot Deals. She is located at 202 S. CM Allen Pkwy., Ste. 101 across from the Children's Park. Hours are 8:00 - 4:00 Mon. -Thurs. The grand opening is Nov. 6th.

At the end of the program Natasha had a drawing for 6 months worth of Heartworm Prevention. Kaycee won!

In lieu of Humor and Musings:

I would like to personally thank Jennifer for all she did as secretary and I think I have some large shoes to fill. But I will persevere.

At the end of the meeting, Jennifer expressed appreciation for all of the officers going forward and she knows she has lots of support.

A side note, the audit went great. Here are the serious Kiwanis audit personnel.
