San Marcos Kiwanis Club Newsletter, June 19, 2025
Felicia, Glen and Chester
Willie and Felicia
Susie, Rick, Steven, Kelli and Savasten

Guests today were Susie's husband Steven and their children Sarai and Savasten. They all were wonderful helpers in putting the flag kits together!

REPORTS:
Rick reported that the Board approved $500 each in donations to "Hays County Child Protective Services" and "Head to Toe" per the Communiity Support committee's recommendation.

Penny has set a date of Sept. 19th for our Installation Banquet. Set up for the banquet will be from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. If you are interested in helping with this, let Penny know. Kelli volunteered to arrange the meal.

We finally have Executive Board positions filled for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Penny will be Secretary, Jennifer will be President, and Willie will continue as Treasurer. Glen volunteered to be on the Board as did Kristi if it can be on a week night or a day time when she is not working. Rick will take on the role of Chair for the Flag Program as well as continuing some of the other work he took on while President. Rick served as President-elect in 2023-2024 and President in 2024-2025. His commitment is greatly appreciated and he did a great job keeping the club moving forward.

As Jennifer will be taking on Presidential duties, she would like someone to take over writing the newsletters. Please consider volunteering for this. (This was not said in the meeting, but since I write the newsletters, I am taking the opportunity to put this out there.)

The Kiwanis District Convention is July 24-26 in Denton. The Board approved $550 towards expenses for a member or members to attend. There are several workshops being offered that will be helpful. Willie wants to attend the accounting part of it. There is also one on a free website being offered through Kiwanis, which if it is user friendly and comprehensive enough, it could help save the current expense for ClubRunner that could be allocated somewhere else.

Instead of a program today, we put together 23 flagpole kits and attached the flags. It was basically organized chaos that was successful in getting flags ready for La Cima's new order.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
June 26th: Taylor Simmons, Southern Farms

EVENTS:
June 20th: Camp  workday.
June 25th: Installation of flag mounts at La Cima. Get with Rick if you want to help with this.

Regular Reminders:
Don't forget to click "like" and "share" on Facebook and other social media to promote the Kiwanis Club. We need to keep getting the club's name out there to promote our community involvement and to add new members to help in our endeavors.

Be sure to check the Calendar posted on the San Marcos Kiwanis Club website to stay up-to-date on what is happening.

No humor or musings today. I am still recovering from volunteering to be President next year.
