Rick went on vacation which Lon noted must have been needed since Rick is retired and plays a lot of golf. As Rick was not here to lead the meeting, Lon did the honors. Luanne was also not here to lead the singing. Chester filled in for her beautifully and received well deserved applause.

REPORTS:
April 17th will be the April birthday celebration meeting for John, Rick and Moe. That will also be the last meeting Veronique will be attending as she is moving to Germany at the end of the month. She will become a Satellite member which means she is still part of our club. Please do come to the meeting to wish her well on her new life adventure.

Kristi has posters ready to distribute for the Good Citizen Camp. If you know of a good spot to post one, let her know. She also could use some donations such as food/snacks for the camp if anyone is interested in helping out in that area or knows of an organization that might donate.

Jesse and his committee have been working on the cornhole tournament scheduled for April 27th. He was interviewed on the local radio station to get the word out. He needs a couple of volunteers to help with sign up sheets on April 19th. Let him know if you can help with this. They have been selling $10 raffle tickets and have received a couple of $500 donations from organizations.

Lon said the next camp workday is Friday, April 18th. Kelli and Steve, who are usually there to help out, will not be able to this time so Lon will need some volunteers to fill in for them.

The three winners for the annual Scholarship awards have been chosen. All three are Key Club members. Two are sisters! The awarding will be on May 22nd.

PROGRAM:
Lon gave the program today on the early history of the San Marcos Kiwanis Club. He used the Powerpoint history links on our website for his presentation and he played a big part in putting the Powerpoints together. Lon urged everyone to look at them if you haven't done so already. Due to time restraints he was not able to cover all of them. However, Andrew Gary, who has been in the club for many of its years, provided some great stories which made for a most entertaining addition to the history. I would repeat them but this is a case where you really had to be there to hear them. When Andrew was doing his first term as president in 1978, he said they had a luncheon at the Holiday Inn where, amazingly, all 70 members at that time showed up. We have a long way to go to get back to that number. Lon also had some good memories to share as did Glen. Hopefully, there will be a coninuation of the history by Lon in a future meeting with long term members giving anecdotes to provide more historical/hysterical memories.
