Gary Strunk will be bringing the program for this coming Thursday. He will be bringing John Henry Lebeau, Treasurer of the Construction Student Association at Texas State University. The CSA is an organization for students pursuing a construction-related degree within the Department of Engineering Technology. John Lebeau has had experience in the field of construction. He was an Intern at the Cadence McShane Construction Company, also an Intern at the SEDALCO Construction Services from May 2016 -August 2016 in the Dallas Fort Worth Area, and he has been Treasurer for the CSA at TSU from December 2015 - the present. Let's have a great turnout for this young man.
"Money spent by the Administrative Committee must be very carefully restricted - - especially in the U.S. where IRS rules require that funds spent to benefit the club itself may come only from the club's members. For this reason, many Kiwanis clubs have two bank accounts - - one for Administrative money (from dues, 'fines' (if used). member contributions, etc) and another for Service money (all money received from the public, such as through fundraisers) Administrative Account monies may be spent for any purpose, including donations to the Service Account. Service money may be spent only on charitable activities and only the lowest activity clubs are exempted from filing a tax return every year (in the U.S.) to document that their service funds are being spent with financial integrity. The alternative is to be declared a profit-making corporation subject to taxation.
Your club is a corporation - - a non-profit corporation - - but its donors (at least in the U.S.) do not enjoy the privilege of deducting their contributions to it. For this reason, some clubs have formed tax-deductible foundations to receive donations from members and the public. Very strict accounting and reporting rules apply to such foundations and clubs don't create foundations lightly.
Yep!! This coming Saturday is the activity we have been planning for for quite some time now. The Race Committee has worked hard in pulling together all of the details that will make this a great event. Everyone is involved in this, remember, so plan on getting to the San Marcos Toyota back lot no later than 7AM. Those who have promised to bring tables, chairs, etc, don't forget them. Everyone remembers last year's rainy event, and almost our entire club turned out with rain gear, but the race went on. The weather is going to be almost perfect this year. Racers and workers are all looking forward to this weekend....Oh, and don't forget, wear your Halloween duds!

Just wanted to say a quick 'thank you' to Gary Nelson, Gary Strunk, Bill Stich & Del Brown for coming out last Thursday evening to put some ramp modules together. Gary cut the boards to the needed length, Del, helped stack them on the shelves, and Gary N. and Bill Stich assembled the modules. Gary Strunk helped assemble too, after Del had to leave to attend his grandson's band concert. If there were others that came after Del left, thanks to you to. By the way, I understand that the ramp that these modules were assembled for were built by the same ones that assembled them (except Del), today, Monday the 24th.
It's Almost that time again. Salvation Army Bell Ringing. If you have never done this, you will receive a real blessing, believe you me! Bell ringing will begin the Friday after Thanksgiving, which should be December 2. Gary & Nancy Strunk, overall coordinator for this loving, charitable volunteer activity will need help this year, and it looks like we have some club volunteers to take on week two and week three of this event. BUT there will be no bell ringing if you don't agree to do your part by signing up for one, two, three, four or more times to ring bells. Our club will be ringing (inside the entrance way, like last year, or if the weather is good, we can ring outside. We only need one ringer each time slot, but having someone else there to talk to is also very good. We will be signing up online like last year. Gary will let our club know when that will start. It would be wonderful if every member of our club would take at least one slot. We will have more reminders as the days go by. Thanks to everyone in our club who have rung in the past, and hopefully will sign up to ring this year.
