Our Program for this coming Thursday, May 5, 2016.
Nope, we are not bringing Paul Anderson as Moe's program this week, but you can see that it is going to have something to do with weightlifting.  Moe is very familiar with the subject.  He will be presenting a power point slide presentation on "The History and Evolution of Weightlifting."
Many of you know that Moe was not always a runner.  I n fact it would be fair to say that back in the day, his figure was not the lean physique typically associated with a distance runner.  He was a champion weightlifter, wrestler, and body builder - winning state competitions and claiming titles such as Mr. North Dakota and Mr. Northern Plains during the 1960's.  At the age of 50, Moe rounded off his lifting career with a national title at the United States Powerlifting Federation's Masters National Powerlifting Championships.  A nagging shoulder injury ultimately affected Moe's weightlifting ability, and he turned to running as an alternative form of exercise.  Oh, and by the by, your editor, when he was stationed in Baumholder, Germany around 1963 was privileged to not only invite Paul Anderson to come and demonstrate his world champion weightlifting skills to the troops stationed there, but your editor got to just one on one eat breakfast with Paul.  You wouldn't believe what he had for breakfast.  At least two steaks, and at least a quart of milk.  He was a Big-Big-Big man, but also a very strong representative of his religious faith.  Be sure and attend this Thursday.

Our Camp Coordinator, Gary Strunk is suggesting that we put our Kiwanis camp on somewhat of a regular schedule beginning this month.  He is suggesting the 2d Tuesday of each month, beginning at 9:00 am.  This is a good idea rather than wait until we have another emergency.  So the first day will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016.  Not sure what all needs to be done, but Gary says bring your weed eaters.  He'll get a schedule of other implements needed before the 10th.  We need all the volunteers we can get.  Our camp is being used quite regularly now, so let's get it in great shape.
Hallelujah!  We had a winner for Big Bucks last week.  John Polk was present and he had the proper identification and he kept his money.  Congratulations John.  Ok guys and gals, who will be next.  You know now that I mention it, my name hasn't been drawn in months.

(These are the first 10 results of our Membership Survey.  Ten more will go in next week's bulletin.  Seventeen members participated in the survey)
I guess that our program last Thursday, given by Frederick Case, was far from completed when 1:00pm rolled around.  Frederick had a great deal for to say with regards to getting members in our club.  He gave an excellent presentation, but he just didn't have enough time to complete it.  What is a member anyway, whether it's a Kiwanis member, or Rotary, or Lions, or Chamber of Commerce or any other organization that we find that we want to belong to because we like what the organization stands for....so we join, then what?  Do we just attend whenever it's convenient, or do we put the meeting date on our calendar, meaning that we don't want to miss a single meeting, unless, of course an emergency comes up that keeps us from attending.  No club can survive very long if our members are only occasional members, and don't jump in to participate each time we have a function.  Remember that all of our functions that make money for our club doesn't really stay with us, rather it immediately gets earmarked for community activities that involves kids.
During the last several weeks, our attendance has dropped considerably?  Why?  Our club is considered an up and coming club.  We have programs every week.  The members who work to get these programs together work hard and I am sure they would like to see as full a house as possible to take advantage of those programs.
Our nominating committee is meeting to fill some very important spots for this next year.  We have our President Elect, but we need to find someone to be President after the President Elect.  In addition to that person we need to fill a Vice President's position, a Secretary's position and a Treasurer's position, as well as hoping someone will come forward to be Flag Chairman for next year.  We need all of our members to be involved, not just when we have money raising fundraisers, but every week.  We know there will be times that we can't make the weekly meetings, but try to make  them as often as possible.  Get in the habit of coming and support each other.

Quite a few issues of the Bulletin, we did some articles (questions & answers) about our Constitution....no questions, no answers, just some facts.)
1........The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words.  It is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world!
2...........Since 1952, the Constitution has been on display in the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C.  Currently all four pages are displayed behind protective glass framed with titanium.  To preserve the parchment's quality, the cases contain argon gas and are kept at 67 degrees Fahrenheit with a relative humidity of 40%.
3...........The Constitution does not set forth requirements for the right to vote.  As a result, at the outset of the Union, only male property owners could vote.  African Americans were not considered citizens, and women were excluded from the electoral process.  Native Americans were not given the right to vote until 1924.

The friend says 'What's wrong?'
The Hydrogen atom replies, 'I lost my electron!'
The friend says, 'Are You sure?'
The Hydrogen atom exclaims, 'Yes, I'm positive.'
The friend laments, 'Oh, I thought you were just being negative again.''
