THE BIBLE THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD
Solomon....One of David's sons was called Solomon. He had, like 300 wives and 500 porcupines. They told us in Sunday School that he was a really wise man, but that doesn't souind too wise to me.
Jonah and Other Prophets.....After Solomon came a whole lot of major league prophets. Jonah was one of them. He was swallowed by a whale, then barfed up on the beach. There were some other minor league prophets, but they weren't too important.
The New Testament....When the Old Testament was done, they started the New Testament. Jesus was the Star. He was born in a barn in the town of Bethlehem. I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because then, when my mother says to me, "Close the door. Were you born in a barn?" I could say, "As a matter of fact, I was."
Jesus argued a lot with the Chief Priests and Democrats. He had twelve opossums. Most of them were good, but Judas Asparagus was not. He was so bad, they named a real yucky vegetable after him.
Jesus healed some people and leopards. Then he preached to the Germans opn the Mount. But the Chief Priests and Democrats were mad at him and put him on trial. Pilot was too chicken to stick up for Him, so he just washed his hands.
Jesus died for our sins and came back to life again. He went to heaven, but will come back at the end of the aluminum. We can read all about that in the Book of the Revolution.

 WOW!!!!!.......Our attendance for last Thursday was incredible!!!..Those present for our 76th Annual Pancake Day and Silent Auction were: Pam Cook, Randy Cook, Del Brown, Andrew Gary, Beverly Crumley,Gary Nelson, David Chandler, Kelli Whigham, Gary Strunk, Steve Furney, Sam Brannon, Charles Johnson, John Polk, Rob Martin, Chad Burns, Francis Mendez, Ted Breihan, James Collier,Chester Banks, Jude Prather,Veronique Hahn, Tracy Herman, McBride Wilson,Doug Balkman,Frederick Case,Garry White, Glen Rydl,Merwin Richards, John Roppolo and Moe Johnson. (That is 30 out of 31 members, not counting Lon Shell, who was off judging at an Agricultural Affair) The total number of persons served was 356...absolutely phenominal. A great deal of thanks go out to each and every one of you who made all of this possible. |

 Well it was a wet, dreary, cold morning of yesterday, Sunday March 1, 2015. The sun wasn't shining, the temperature was in the 30's and everyone was wondering about Moe's Better Half Marathon Race - was it going to come off, or was it going to be canceled. Well you can bet your bottom dollar, they weren't going to cancel, because one by one, people began to show up down at Tanger Mall, with their slickers, and gloves and hats pulled down over their ears. The water containers were filled with water and some with GatorAde, loaded on pickups and run down the route to the roadside stations. One by one, the runners began to arrive, walkin
ng down the long walk to get registered, and then jumping up and down to keep warm,just waiting until 7am,when Moe would send them off for over an hour and half
of running - 13.1 miles. There was coffee, goodies, music, and
lots of willing people helping to make sure this race
came off
. And it did. Of 259 runners signed up, 240 ran the course. It was magnificent to see them start off and even more exhilerating to see the first runner come over the finish line at about 8:15am. Beside the runners, we had lots of volunteers from TX State, from the running clubs, from the Medical Explorers, and other groups plus 14 Kiwanians from our local club, many stayed until the very end, but some left early to go to church. Those Kiwanians that were there were Charles Johnson, Beverly Crumley, Kelli Whigham, Steve Whigham, Pam Cook, Randy Cook, Gary Nelson, Del Brown, Sam Brannon, Frederick Case, Glen Rydl, Moe Johnson, John Polk and Francis Mendez. Great job guys and gals. Another year, another sucessful run. Good going, Moe and all those others who helped put this race together.

JUST A REMINDER that Charles Johnson will be bringing the program on Thursday, March 5th His program will be Christopher Alexander, Chief of San Marcos Hays County EMS. He is a paramedic and has worked in the EMS field for over thirty years, including twenty years in fire service EMS. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program and has earned a Master's in Business Administration degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University. He currently serves on the state Governor's EMS and Trauma Advisory Committee (GETAC) Pre-hospital Committee. Chief Alexander resides in Buda with his family. Let's have a great turnout for this first program in March.

The K-Kids meets this Tuesday morning at 7:30am in the DeZavala School Library. There's about 30 of them and they would love to see 4 or 5 of our members pop in just to show our interest in what they are doing. Remember, this Tuesday morning, March 2 7:30am. They meet every 1st & 3rd Tuesday at the same time.

 Bob Gardner, CTMC/Hays County Coordinator, Texas Ramps Project, has put out a plea for a ramp building this coming weekend, weather permitting. He indicates that he can use the help. It would be on Saturday, March 7th. If any one from our club can help, give him a call at 512-312-6976 or his email, Bgardner8716@centurylink.net. I am sure help would be much appreciated.
