We Had a Winner last week. Charles Johnson's name was drawn but unfortunately he didn't have his pin on, so the money goes back into the jar! Sorry Charles!
The DeZavala K-Kids will be meeting this coming Tuesday, April 4 at 7:45am in Brittany Bouzard's homeroom.
Last time we met, we only had 2 Kiwanians attend. Let's see if we can have 4 or 5 or even more attend this next meeting, as they will be discussing their next upcoming events. Our club needs this information, so we can support the K-Kids. Let's show our support by having a good turnout this coming Tuesday morning.
Our Program Last Week, March 30th, 2017.
One of our very own members stepped up to the podium and gave us a marvelous coverage on the subject of Durable Powers of Attorney, Wills and Probates.
Andrew Gary, a practicing lawyer here in San Marcos made all of us more aware of the importance of having wills, and powers of attorney. One would think that this is something that one would naturally acquire, but unfortunately, some might put it off. This should not be done. A will is one of the most important document you can have to provide from your loved ones. It was a tremendous program and many questions were asked of Andrew, and he fielded them all like the professional he is.

Doug Balkman will be presenting the program this coming Thursday. There will be a review of the Pancake Day and Auction, facts and figures, comments on this year's function. We need everyone's input, so let's have a good turnout.

April 3, 1948 - - President Harry S. Truman signed the European Recovery Program, better known as the Marshall Plan, intended to stop the spread of Communism and restore the economics of European countries devastated by World War II. Over four years, the program distributed $12 billion to the nations of Western Europe. The program was first proposed by Secretary of State George C. Marshall during a historic speech at Harvard University on June 5, 1947.

"C'mon Ma you have got to try it" I pleaded with my elderly Mother. I don't know how my Mother lasted this long without ever using the internet, but enough was enough! I thought. "Ok" she said reluctantly setting down by the computer and slowly putting on her reading glasses, 'what do I do now?' "Now I'm going to open the home page of Google" I explained. "OK here it is! Now type in ANY question you want into the bar over here and you will find an answer toi your question." I confidently assured her.
My Mother looked at me warily, thought for a second, and slowly began to type, 'How is Gertrude doing this morning'?"

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander off the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona.
Horseshoe Bend is located 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreational Park.
It is accessible via hiking a 1.5 mile round trip from U.S. Route 89, but an access road alsio reaches the geological structure, as it is a part of a state park.
The overlook is 4,200 feet above seas level, and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet above sea level, making it a 1,000 foot drop.
The rock walls of Horseshoe Bend contain a variety of minerals, among which are hematite, platinum, platinum, and garnet.
