Club send off for Veronique's moving to Germany
Rick introduced guests Taylor Simmons, Erica Simmons's husband, and mother Pat Gates both of whom came for Erica's induction into the club. We also had Liz come from Texas State Univ. who passed out a follow up survey for the study, "The impact of a gardening program on senior citizens' perceptions of quality of ife, loneliness and hope" to those who filled out the first survey. Results to come later.

Birthdays being celebrated today with cupcakes are John, Rick and Moe. The cupcakes are also for celebrating Veronique being a part of the club for 16 years. She is moving to Germany to be with family and will become a Satellite member. Her daughter just got married and will be moving there as well. We will stay in touch and wish her well at her new home.

INDUCTION:
Jesse inducted Erica Simmons into our club today. She is an entrepeneur who started an events venue named Southern Star Events which is where our first Cornhole Tournament will be held. She has played a large part in getting the tournament organized even before she joined our club. She is a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Her skill sets are photography, strategic planning, event planning, grant writing, social media, CPA/Accounting, youth mentoring and public relations. Welcome, Erica, and thank you for all you have already done!

REPORTS:
Rick listed the next meetings scheduled through May. We need speakers for June 5th and on into the rest of the year. Please come up with ideas!

Kristin has had some success with collection of bills owed from Flag Program sponsors. Some businesses have dropped out while La Cima has added more flags to their route.

Rick took the scholarship awardees to Dr. Cunningham who said they were very good choices.

Camp workday is this Friday April 18th. Since this newsletter is being written after that date, it has already occurred. Being the start of Easter weekend, several members who usually help were out of town. I heard from Chase, Kristi's husband who helped out, that only Rick, Lon and he were there. Lon is always on it and had already taken care of quite a lot. It was mowing and weed wacking mainly left to do.

Kristi has done some slight changes on the Bylaws although nothing substantial has changed. Everyone needs to look over them so we can vote for approval in the next couple of weeks.

Cheryl is setting up the next Social at Italian Gardens. It is set up for April 30th. Let Cheryl know if you plan to attend so she can make the reservation.

Most of what the Board discussed at the April 17th meeting is included in this newsletter so there will be no separate Board meeting section this time.

PROGRAM:
Jesse and Erica went over details on the Cornhole Tournament  Jesse said the meat and potatoes part of the cornhole tournament are done.  We still need more competitors. He passed out two flyers. One has a QR code for signing up to be a competitor. The other one lists the 20 items in the raffle and another QR code. He handed out raffle tickets to everyone to sell at $10 a piece. The tickets will be drawn one by one for each of 20 prizes so there are many chances to win. If you were not at the meeting, please get with Jesse to let him know how you can help. The tournament is coming up fast on April 27th. Members have volunteered to promote the tournament at Poco Loco's and Jesse is hoping to get the car wash near Sunflower Bank to allow us to be there for a couple of hours to sign up teams and sell raffle tickets. It sounds like Jesse and Erica have this well organized. We all need to help out in some way to make it a success.
