Lee was instrumental in creating the 'Homespun Picnic at Ramon Lucio Park.' Lon Shell brought his cooker and the club paid for meat, hot dogs, buns, etc. He (Lee) was a great Kiwanian"

We had $8 in the Big Bucks jar, and Tracy Herman's name was drawn. Sorry Tracy, but you were attending Lee Carlisle's funeral, so maybe next week. Your absence from our club meeting was a blessing to the Carlisle family.

Hill Country Region (Divisions 23, 24, 38) will have 'Club Leadership Education' on July 23, 2016, from 9-4 at First United Methodist Church in Round Rock. Seems like this is about the most central and accessible place to hold these things.
This for new Presidents, Secretaries, (and there will be a break out session for them) and any other leaders in your club. There is an extensive agenda, as evidenced by the long time scheduled. This would also be great for Membership Chairs as well.
EVERY CLUB should plan to have someone attend this!
AND THEN....... Texas Oklahoma Convention in Allen, Texas, August 12-14, details and registration online. Make sure your delegates are registered! (We did a great job of having clubs represented at the Called Convention in Garland last month!
It was a very hot day on Saturday, and only four showed up, but we got a lot done.
Welcome to our visitors from last week.
We had two visitors last Thursday. Sam Brannon brought Caleb Williams, who has been here before. Gary Strunk brought Ryan Smith, who volunteers over at Salvation Army, and is planning on going on to graduate school to study to be a physical therapist. Thanks to both of you for coming, and thanks Sam & Gary for bringing them.
City Councilman addresses our club.
Thanks to Beverly Crumley, we had an excellent program. last Thursday. City Councilman, John Thomaides came and gave our club quite a wide spread, positive overview of what is going on in our city. One of the biggest thing that is happening in our city is the hiring of employees with Amazon that is just about to open. He also spelled out where streets were being improved, and an area off of Posey that was being considered for 1000 dwellings. San Marcos is one of the fastest growing city in the United States. He spoke in a very positive attitude, and feels that our city is on good footing. He also talked briefly about how the city gathered together during the two huge floods last year, one on Memorial Day, 2015 and the other in October 2015. The city drew together and is still drawing together to help those who lost their homes. He said that the arrival of Amazon will provide a great opportunities for young people. Thanks Beverly and John for bring our club up to speed about what is happening.
Lee Carlisle's Funeral.
Those of our club that attended Lee's funeral last Thursday were: Randy & Pam Cook, Frederick and Margo Case, John & Mary Polk, Tracy Herman, and Merlyn Richards. Lee was President of our club in 2000. The above named attended as representatives of our club.
Our Upcoming Program for this Thursday, June 23, 2016
Our program for this coming Thursday will be brought by Moe Johnson. It just might a surprise, but we'll let him tell you all about it.
We want to begin running a column about members of our club that are having difficulty, are sick, have had accidents, in the hospital or things like that. If you would like our club to know about the unexpected things that do happen to members, please let me know either by phone, or email, or in person.
1, John Polk is progressing very nicely, is able to get out and about.
2. Rob Martin was in an accident with his pickup. Don't have any details, but hope he's OK.
3. Gary Nelson had to put his wife Sherry in the hospital with pneumonia. That sometimes takes awhile to get over. Wish the best for you, Sherry & Gary.
