Our club rejoiced as we inducted two new members into our Club. Chase Dane has been a very active visitor, even before he agreed to join the club. His wife, Kristi Dane has been a great asset to the club, organizing and running the Good Citizen Camp, as well as setting us up as a 501C-3, organization. Chase is eager to help with our McBride Wilson Kiwanis Camp maintenance and upkeep, and is eager to serve as a board member, as soon as a position opens up.
Rona Walton is eager about helping kids in our community and wants to get involved in community activities. She has been very active in writing for grants, and is eager to bring in new members, and as an ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, she will provide a lot of ways to bring exposure to our club.
REPORTS AND ANNOUINCEMENTS:
1. Lon Shell will be having a birthday on Dec. 26th, and Kaycee White will be bringing a dessert treat to our next meeting on Dec. 18, 2025, to celebrate this birthday.
2. Redline Charlie Foxtrot Car show update: Willie made some delicious breakfast tacos, and even though we had competition from another vendor, sales were helpful to the club. Kristi Dane, the organizer of the event, stated that she received a lot of compliments on the fact that the Kiwanis had a booth, at the show. Many spectators were unaware that there was a Kiwanis club in town, or what a Kiwanis club did. Kristi mentioned that our club might benefit from more exposure by participating in other pop-up events, in which we could sell breakfast tacos. This would be a great way to bring in new members, Kristi has several events that she would like to suggest down the road. Jesse Ramos and Rona are both participants in Chamber of Commerce, and this will also bring attention to the Kiwanis.
Penny passed out tickets to the Pancakes with Santa, to people in attendance, so people were made aware of this upcoming event.
Jennifer Richmond shared that the Friday night Gala was a lot of fun, and the Charleston was demonstrated, with participation. Chester Banks received attention from several different people because he was a Veteran.
3. Brown Santa will be at our meeting, next week. Remember to bring donated toys for kids. Ages 14-19 seem to be an area of weakness, if you are interested in donating for kids in this age range.
4. Pancake Day: Rick Pickering and Penny Slavik shared finalized plans for our upcoming fundraiser. Penny passed around a final job assignment sheet, reminded members to wear Santa hats, and bring pancake syrup.
Rick stated that he needed to get the Pancake Ad Placemats printed at a different location, as the one he used last year had closed down. Kristi Dane volunteered to do the printing, if the club supplied the ink.
Rick Pickering, Penny Slavik, and Willie Garza plan to go to the Kiwanis warehouse, Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at 3:00pm, to pick up the items needed for the pancake event. They will then plan to go to the First United Methodist Church, to drop everything off, and begin setup for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025. Remember that setup is planned for 5:00pm.
