THE BIBLE THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

"MOSES".....Moses was the next important man.  His real name was Charlton Heston.  Moses led the Israel lights out of Egypt because of the bad Pharoah.  God sent ten plagues on the Egyptians.  Some of the plagues were mkice, frogs, bugs, lice and no cable.
Every day in the desert, God fed the Israel lights some manicotti.  He gave them His "To Ten" commandments.  They were things like don't lie, don't cheat, don't dance, don't smoke, don't covet your neighbior's stuff (whatever that means).  He also told them to humor their father and mothers.
"JOSHUA"....Moses' best helper was Joshua.  He was the first person to use spies.  He fought the battle of Geritol.  That's when the fence fell down on the town.
"DAVID".....David came after Joshua.  They made him king after he killed a giant with a slingshot. (More next week)

"WHAT IS 'THE FORMULA'?"

The formula is all about our club.  It doesn't have anything to do with building new clubs, but it is telling and showing how we feel about our existing club.  In other words, we should LOVE  our club.  Why do we love our club?  Is it just a meeting with our friends?  Is it a good service project?  Whatever it is, it is unique to you.  Do we look forward to each week's meeting, are we w

illing to pitch in and work together?  Do we exhibit a happy atmosphere within our club?  Are we satisfied with our club the way it is, ,in other words, do we Love our club so that we
are proud to tell others about our club.
That brings us to the next part of the Formula...Do we SHARE our club.  Whatever you love about Kiwanis - that is your Kiwanis story.  Do you own it?  Are you excited about your club that you want to share your enthusiam with someone else.  Here are some suggestions of who to share our club ith....Friends...Spouse...Family...Alumni Association....Coworkers...Florist...Religious eaders..Neighbors....Mayor...Council members....Banker...Dentist...Teacher....Newspaper writers...Postal workers.
That brings us to the last part of the Formula....LIVE IT...To "live Kiwanis" means to make it a bigger part of your everyday life.  It means you are proud to be a Kiwanian, and you want everyone to know it.  Here are some ways that you can live your club.....Wear your Kiwanis pin or logo-gear.....Put up a Kiwanis sign in your town and where you meet....Make
your community stronger through meaningful service....Invite the people you care about to join....Model the Kiwanis Objects.  Get inspired, and get what you need to live what you love.  That's what the Formula is all about.

Tremendous!, Outstanding!, Stupendous!, Jumpin' Up & Down!, and I could add quite a few other ways of saying "thanks" to you club members who were present last Thursday
and donated $160.00 as a free will donation to the K-Kids of DeZavala Elementary School, and specifically to Kayle Shook 4th grade teacher whose class wound up being the winner in the latest project of "Pennies for Patients".  The K-Kids sponsored this project encouraging the school children bring in loose change from home and giving it to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.  We are proud of you kids!  We are proud of you Kayla Shook, faculty advisor for the DeZavala K-Kids.  I'm not sure what the final total was, but it was 'over the top'.

OK Guys and Gals!  Our 76th Pancake Day & Silent Auction is just about on us.  We've done this ever since 1939 (Well not quite the same way), but we all know what we are supposed to do.  Those who come for our pancakes and sausages and bid on our auction items are our friends.  They want to be there.  We need to treat them as the most important people in the world.  This means that we need to be at Activity Center by around 7:30am....
Why?  Because there's a lot of setting up to do, tables to be covered, auction tables to be covered, auction items to becategorized, paper to be taped down in the kitchen, grills to be put on the stove, well, most of you know the routine.  We have a great club, and many willing hands and hearts.  We also have some new members that have never done this before.  Offer them help and guidance.  The more members that are there early to set up, the quicker we will be ready to start cooking and serving.  Every position that needs to be filled, whether it's cooking pancakes, sausages heating, bussing pancakes and sausages back and forth, serving pancakes, sausages, drinks, coffee, butter, syrup, picking up dishes, greeting people, helping people, they are the best customers in the world.  Let's all give them the best service that we know.  It's going to be a great day.....weather is going to be high of 52, with only 10% chance of rain.  Couldn't ask for better weather.

Keep thefirst day (Sunday) of March open.  That's Moe's Better Half Marathon Race, starting from Tanger Mall. It falls right on the tail of the Pancake/Silent Auction Day, but remember it is also
a great  fundraiser for our club.  Last Thursday, we had a goodly number of members sign up to help out from 5:30am to about 9:00am.  Plenty of time to get to church. You are needed just on Sunday, but you ARE needed.  This race has all kinds of tasks that must be done, so if you signed up last Thursday, please don't be late. See you there. Thanks!
