A teacher asked her class what they knew about whales. One little girl spoke up and said that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. The teacher smiled and said she didn't think that was very likely, because even though whales can be big, their throats are not big enough to swallow a man. But the little girl was adamant, and maintained that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. The teacher was getting impatient, and reiterated that this was physically unlikely. But the little girl was unmoved, and said that when she got to heaven, she would ask Jonah. "But what if Jonah went to hell?" the teacher asked. The girl replied, "Then you ask him."

Here's a few few more fundraising ideas in the early days of our club. One activity was thought up by one membger, Harry Wiede. He came up with the idea of selling deer hides. Harry had been collecting deer hides for several years, processed them for sale, and donated the proceeds to the club. This added any where from $100 - $150 to the club annually. Another ongoing activity which required very little effort and which furnished the club small amount each month, was the placement of gumball machines. We are doing that to this day.....The early club depended heavily on dramatic productions, probably because of the availability of two former vaudevillians, Leslie Cooper and G.H. "Happy Ward......In 1927, the club put on a "Womanless Wedding, with Alfred Nolle as announcer. The following year naturally, they put on a "Womanless Divorce" was presented with Dr. Nolle as attorney for the plaintiff, and Maurice Waldrip as :"Mother of the Bride". The tickets for these productions were $.50.

Veteran's Day Flag Day was a big success. The weather was a bit cooler, but considering the significance of the day, everyone was in good spirits. Those who put out flags last Tuesday, were Glen Rydll & Francis Mendez, Randy Cook, Gary Nelson ,David Chandler, Del Brown & Frederick Case, John Polk & Lon Shell,Gary Strunk. Our very interesting program last Thursday was Heicam Yan from the San Marcos Community Acupuncture Clinic, 1205 Hwy 123, Suite 202, San Marcos TX. She first of all explained that acupunture refers to the insertion of fine needles into particular points on the body selected according to the theories and principles of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is thought to harness the body;'s powerful healing mechanisms and is therefore virtually free of harmful side effects. In fact, due to its generalized actions, acupuncture often has the side effects of improving other health issues that were not specifically being treated. Those members who were in attendance were: Doug Balkman, Chester Banks, Del Brown (Marie Brown, wife of Del),Frederick Case, Randy & Pam Cook, Steve Furney, Rob Martin (glad he's feeling better), Gary Nelson, Lon Shell, Kelli Whigham, Sam Brannon, Ted Breihan, Beverly Crumley, Andrew Gary, Moe Johnson, John Polk, Glen Rydyl, Gary Strunk, and McBride Wilson.

Did you see the bags and boxes of food that were brought to meeting last week? The DeZavala K-Kids were doing a service project where they were collecting food items, to go to disadvantaged children in the community. Thanks Kayla Shook and thanks Pam and thanks to everyone who brought gobs of food to our meeting last week. It was wonderful.

Every year, Marble Falls invites the other clubs in the Division to join them in an Interclub Thanksgiving meal. This year it will be on Tuesday, November 25. Those who have gone in the past know where they meet but for first timers, they meetfrom 12:00 - 1:00 at the River City Grill, right across the bridge on your left. "GIVING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2014" (Kiwanis International News)....On Tuesday, December 2, people around the world will come together for one common purpose; to celebrate generosity. It's the third annual Giving Tuesday. On that day, people will give gifts that benefit good causes and people in need.The Kiwanis International Foundation is proud to participate - joining charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students. Giving Tuesday gifts tio our foundation will go to the Kiwanis Children's Fund, which supports grants to Kiwanis clubs, districts and district foundations - and grants to Kiwanis' Service Leadership programs, like CKI Leadership Academy.
Our fundraising goal for Giving Tuesday this year is US$30,000. That's the equivalent of 30 Hixson Fellowships - simply one from each Kiwanis district. Your gifts to the Kiwanis Children's Fund will support many Kiwanis-family programs.

There are two dates coming up that are very important to our club as well as to the kids in our schools, There will be a gathering of Terrific Kids first of all on Friday, December 12 at 2pm over at DeZavala School. The other date will be set for Friday, May 22, 2015, again at 2pm. As most of you know, Terrific Kids is a Kiwanis awards program and it is designed to build self-esteem. Twice a year, all elementary grades get together twice a year. All twenty-six teachers select 3 students to recognize. Therefore 78 students are recognized in December and another 78 students are recognized in May. Parents and grandparents are invited. We try to have at least 9 Kiwanis members there to fill their sacks with items from McDonalds, Wells Fargo Bank, Frost Bank, Kiwanis etc. It is a fun occasion. It recognizes those hard working kids that come every day, who follow directions, and don't cause problems. We look forward to have a good turnout from our club for these two events.
