San Marcos Kiwanis Club Newsletter, Dec. 19, 2024
Of first importance to report, Lon's birthday was celebrated with the incredible Kelli banana pudding! Yummm. Thank you, Kelli!

Debby Lawrence with the Bluebonnet Lion's Club came to visit today. She brought packages of nuts left from their annual Nut sales fundraiser. A number of members did take up her offer. It was good to hear the nuts can last up to two years if put in the freezer.

REPORTS:
Rick reported that $125 was collected from members at last week's meeting to donate towards Adopt-a-Cop snacks. Rick used the funds to purchase items from their list to deliver.

Note: There will be no meeting on Dec. 26th as Grin's will be closed.

NOT A PROGRAM PROGRAM:
Instead of a speaker, Rick and Penny went over details of the Pancake Day event with Penny handing out the duty roster for those who have volunteered. She said if anyone needs to change their slot or responsibility, let her know as soon as possible so she can maybe make a swap with another volunteer. She also said if you know of any non-Kiwanis members who are coming and want to help out, let her know and she will find an area in which they can work.

Rick went over the the proper handling and safety measures for volunteers preparing and serving food and sanitizing areas where food is served and eaten. Hair nets and gloves will be provided for those who are required to wear them.

Any Christmas decorations you can contribute or loan are welcome. They will need to be delivered by 5:00 p.m. on Friday. More syrup contributions will be appreciated.

Wear your name badge and promote the club whenever possible. If you have a Kiwanis apron, please wear it. Wearing Santa hats is encouraged.

Approximately $2500 has been raised through Pancake placemat ads. Rick's daughter did the designing of the three different placemats. We thank her for the great work she did on this. They have been printed and are ready to go.

Kristin had the banners and signs made in November. They were put out last week and look great.
