REPORTS:
Flags will be set out on Saturday for Flag Day.
Next Thurday's meeting on June 19th will be flag kit assembling day.
Be thinking of what committees you want to be involved with for next year. We definitely need a Flag Chairperson. We also still need a President and two Board members. Glen volunteered to be a Board member.
A reminder was made that beginning in August, we will have an evening meeting at Grin's on the third Monday of the month in place of the Thursday lunch meeting.
PROGRAM:
Dr. Clay Green from TX State Univ. gave us a most informative, visual and melodic program on the most common birds found in the San Marcos area. Using a PowerPoint presentation, he showed great images of the birds along with sound recordings for each species. He said there are between 120 to 130 species found in our area. Dr. Green noted some interesting points about the various species. One is mockingbirds can imitate car alarms and other sounds that are not bird song related. Summer Tanagers have been known to return to the very same spot as before every year during migration. This was a very enjoyable program.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
June 19th: No program. Assembling flag kits. Try to attend to help out.
June 26th: Taylor Simmons, Southern Farms
EVENTS:
June 14th: Flag Day
June 18th: Board Meeting, Sunflower Bank, 5:00 pm.
