"Where did the Word Spoonerism come from?"

"A spoonerism is an error of speech, or a transposition of sounds from one word to another.  Rev. William Archibald Spooner (1844 - 1930), who taught at Oxford University is credited with having invented the spoonerism.  He was said to have described Queen Victoria as 'our queer old dean'.  And once he is reported to have shouted at students:  'You have tasted the whole worm.  You have hissed by mystery lectures.  You were fighting a liar in the quad.  You will leave by the town drain,'"
