"Our Program for this coming Thursday, January 25th
Ted Breihan is bringing the program this coming Thursday.  He is bringing Dianne Wassenich, program manager of the San Marcos River Foundation.  Dianne volunteered for the San Marcos River Foundation 17 years as clerical staff, before being hired as its first staff member in 2002.  Her duties include managing the many projects that the Foundation works on, grant writing and organizing events.
She grew up on the Gulf Coast, and attended Rice University and University of Houston.  She worked in the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return on Idaho's Middlefork of the Salmon River in the 70's, learning how important it is to preserve natural areas, and moved to San Marcos in 1980.
In her years of working for the Foundation, Dianne has served on many regional, statewide and local stakeholder groups.  Currently she represents the public in a seat on Region L Water Planning Group, is Vice-chair of the Bay Basin Stakeholder for the Guadalupe basin, and is also on the Steering Committees of the Edwards Aquifer Habitat Conservation Plan, Upper San Marcos Watershed Initiative, and Plum Creek Watershed Program.  She also served many years on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Rivers Advisory Board, and has participated in San Marcos' master plan and numerous other river-related committees locally.
If you want to hear about how to keep our river free and clean for thousands of people who associate San Marcos with the river, (as well as other things), plan to be at our noon meeting this coming Thursday.
